Artist Statement: This representation of a tidepool is an original design which evolved as I stitched. Using

wool as the background, tulle over printed fabrics, and painted gauze as the base, the beads, sea shells and

sea glass bring this tidepool to life with a variety of shapes, sizes and colors that one might see reflected in a

tidepool. There are also small fish beads embedded to give a whimisical accent and enhance the sea theme.

Lastly, the canvas was painted blue to represent the ocean water.

Artist Statement: This bag is an original design which evolved as I worked. Using multiple fabrics layered on

top of a wool base and covered with tulle, the fabrics are secured with multiple colored beads, buttons and

sea shells to add to the whimsical look. Butterflies, fish, flowers, stars and shells compliment the beautiful

glass Czech button used for a closure device. The bag is lined and the strap is constructed of ribbons, wool

yarn, and trims which are braided together to finish the piece.

Artist Statement: A couple of years ago a popular question was asked, "Would a woman feel safer in the

woods with a man or a bear." Many men were angry that women said they would feel safer with a bear. This

piece is dedicated to the victims of ICE, and especially to Renee Good, who was brutally murdered by an ICE

agent. As though shooting her 3 times in the face wasn't enough, the last words she may have heard was

"Fucking Bitch". I hope my small work brings into focus the ugliness of what America is facing.

and 22K gold seed beads, real pearls and shells, gilt plate and spangles, and solid and over dyed silk threads.

bearing nine three-hour sessions of painful tattoo work. Finding beauty in the least expected of places.

Artist Statement: Ginny is a 4-yr old miniature golden doodle who has given me much pleasure during a

very challenging time (covid). She brings me joy daily, and I wanted to memorialize her using my

rediscovered passion for needlepoint. I photographed her and then had this painted on a canvas. I then

selected multiple silk and wool threads to reproduce her fur using both long and short stitches. The

background darning stitch is an open stitch consisting of back-to-back bones.

Artist Statement: This is the culmination piece for the Embroiderers' Guild of America General

Correspondence Course "Perfectly Counted Crosses". We were required to submit a sampler that

incorporated the various cross stitch techniques taught in the course, including long-arm cross, alternating

double back stitch, reversible cross stitch, and Italian cross stitch. I chose bands from a variety of sources. I

chose to stitch this as a monochromatic sampler and was required to use a single color family - in this case I

used the DMC copper family and a variegated thread.

Artist Statement: I first saw this beautfiul sampler being stitched by someone else and knew I had to stitch it

myself. It took three years to complete, but I absolutely love seeing it finished and framed. This is the largest

piece I have completed to date. DMC 924 and 926 were used in this piece.

Artist Statement: Armchair Sewing Caddy is embroidered on Dakota pique and trimmed with a small

checked gingham bias. The front pocket is embroidered with five flowers. Flower #1 is a blanket stitched

wheel flower with a center of french knots. Flower #2 is a pistil stitch ribbon loop flower. Flower #3 is a

bullion rose. Flower #4 is a drizzle stitch flower. Flower #5 is a pekinese flower with french knots. Stems of

flowers are backstitched. The border is embroidered with a blanket stitch chain and french knots. Inside the

front pocket are a scissor pocket, pen and ruler pocket, and rings for embroidery thread. The center of the

caddy has a pin cushion, and the back of the caddy has two pockets for miscellaneous items.
