Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Total Framing

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Canvaswork: Multi-Stitch (4+)

Commercial Pattern/Designer: Sally Corey Designs

#698 - Lattice-scape

Location: Beach Room (1st Floor, Music Room)

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Self

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Canvaswork: Multi-Stitch (4+)

Thread Count: 18

Commercial Pattern/Designer: Kurdy Biggs

Artist Statement: This is my first counted piece in nearly 50 years, and it is significantly more complex than

what my 9 year old self stitched back in the 1970's. I'm happy to have strayed from my painted canvas habit

to have tried these new techniques, which I plan to use again.

#699 - Dog Days of Summer

Award: Judge's Choice Award

Location: 1st Floor, Center Hallway

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Self

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Canvaswork: Multi-Stitch (4+)

Thread Count: 18

Artist Statement: I'm always drawn to colorful designs, and this piece is just full of color. The happy canine

looks just like our Sammi, when she regularly rolls around in our backyard, surprisingly accurate from the

shape of her snout to the tip of her tail, and so I just had to memorialize her in needlework.

Lee, Laura

#725 - Dragonfly Dreams

Location: 1st Floor, Center Hallway

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Self

Category: Original Design | Technique: Surface Embroidery

Artist Statement: Bold appliqued wings and textured French knots bring this dragonfly to life—a symbol of

transformation and belonging. Its design draws from the lakeside scenes of my childhood, where

dragonflies, water lilies, and wild flowers sparked imagination and deepened family ties.

Lee, Debra

#832 - Know Us, Not Our Race

Location: American History (1st Floor Bedroom)

Division: Senior (70 years and up) | Exhibited by: Self

Category: Original Design | Technique: Surface Embroidery

Artist Statement: As a Chinese American born and raised in the USA, I am often identified and judged by my

appearance rather than my identity as an American. "Know Us, Not Our Race" uses speech balloons to show

how our faces can trigger assumptions based on racial stereotypes instead of individual character, actions,

and personality. My art focuses on the history and stereotypes of Chinese in America. Through my art, I aim

for viewers to connect with and relate these themes to their own cultural experiences. The faces are myself

and my brother at various times of our lives.

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Self

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Surface Embroidery: Crewel

Commercial Pattern/Designer: Tanya Bentham

Artist Statement: The first flower of spring "bursts" out into the environment and contrasts with the

receding colors of winter. The initial bloom weighs down the stem while its timid companions are still in

bud form. The vase serves as both a storage container for the branches as well as inspiration for the buds.

The monochromatic color scheme further reinforces the first bloom of spring!

Location: Winter Room (1st Floor, Dining Room)

Division: Senior (70 years and up) | Exhibited by: Self

Artist Statement: When our twin grandchildren were born in October, there wasn't time to make two

stockings before Christmas so they received them when they were 1 year old. Being a boy and a girl,

identical stockings weren't appropriate so stockings by an identical designer fit the bill for them. They were

Award: First Place

Location: Garden Room (1st Floor, Cream Parlor)

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: Total Framing

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Counted Thread: Sampler - Multi-Stitch (4+)

Thread Count: 40

Commercial Pattern/Designer: Hands Across the Sea Samplers

Artist Statement: I had the great pleasure of taking a workshop with Nicole Parkman from Hands Across the

Sea teaching the many stitches used in this sampler. As a “self taught” stitcher taking on a project of this

magnitude was intimidating and made more so by the reversible aspect of the piece and “over three” method

used in 17th century samplers. This took quite some time, but has proven to have greatly advanced my

needlework skills. The piece is stitched on 40 count linen n the shad Straw from Weeks Dye Works. There are 15 shades of Auver a Soie silk used. Stitches on the sampler include: marking cross, four sided stitch, double back stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, double sided Italian stitch, eyelet, Holbein, French knot and detached buttonhole.

car is carrying boxes with numbers to count down to Christmas showing 24 so not quite to the holiday.

Several of Santa's helpers are in the passenger car. Mrs. Claus can be seen looking out the window of the

caboose.
