Arcadia Farm for Sustainable Agriculture is a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a more equitable and sustainable local food system in the Washington, DC area.
Based on the historic grounds of Woodlawn Estate in Alexandria, Virginia, thanks to a landmark partnership with the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Arcadia manages four distinct program areas that address a specific need in the community, while collectively engaging consumers, farmers, schools, and institutions.
Nelly’s Needlers was established in 1975 to help in the preservation of Woodlawn through the pursuit of fine needlework. This group of dedicated individuals has raised and donated more than $1,000,000 to help preserve Woodlawn as a historic property through a variety of needlework-related activities. These funds have allowed for the enhancement of visitor amenities, contributions to special capital improvement projects, and the continued growth of the Woodlawn Endowment Fund.
Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House are proud members of The Mount Vernon Springfield Chamber of Commerce is a nonprofit organization that supports businesses in the Mount Vernon and Springfield areas of Fairfax County. Established in 1954, this membership-based organization is made up of local businesses and community leaders that work together to promote economic growth, advocate for pro-business policies, and support the success of their local economy. They serve as a hub for business resources and relationship building by provide networking opportunities, advocate on behalf of businesses at the local and state level, offer marketing and promotional support, and help members stay informed about economic, legislative, and community developments.
