#156 - Abstract Inspiration

Award: Second Place

Location: International Room (2nd Floor, Pink Bedroom)

Division: Adult | Exhibited by: In Stitches

Category: Commercial Design | Technique: Canvaswork: Traditional

Thread Count: 18

Artist Statement: My design and stitching are simple and many gave me interesting suggestions to fill spaces

to provide balance. But I feel off balance and in the end ripped out motifs to fill in spaces. The off-kilter

nature of the piece reflects how I am feeling. My field of work (humanitarian response and conservation) has

been gutted. The treatment of immigrants, including dear family and friends, tragic. The lack of civility a

tragedy. I encourage people to take positive action and support each other.
