The Woodlawn & Pope-Leighey House historic property offers clients a variety of outdoor locations with beautiful gardens, a stunning mansion, a brick & oyster-lined event tent area with permanent flooring, and gorgeous landscape. 

In 1799, George Washington gave Woodlawn mansion as a wedding present for the nuptials of his step-grand-daughter, Eleanor "Nelly" Parke Custis and his nephew, Lawrence Lewis. Throughout Nelly's lifetime and into the twentieth century, Woodlawn was renowned for the gracious hospitality of its hosts and the beauty of its historic and pastoral setting.  This tradition continues here today. Design Cuisine at Woodlawn

Woodlawn has partnered with Design Cuisine to produce all catered events on our property. Total commitment to client satisfaction and the highest levels of service in special event catering has brought Design Cuisine recognition as the preeminent caterer in the nation’s capital. After more than 35 years of leading the Washington catering and event industry, the company continues to provide the innovative menus, quality food preparation, meticulous service, and attention to detail that first defined Design Cuisine style. At Design Cuisine, their goal is to produce a special event inspired by your vision that surpasses the predictable, where each detail is intentional and every moment is joyful.

Property Rental Information

OPTION 1: CEREMONY + RECEPTION AT WOODLAWN:

We have a variety of stunning locations on our property that are designed to accommodate up to 350 guests for a wedding ceremony on the Woodlawn mansion grounds. 

Reception: Tent capacity is 250 for a table seated reception, 350 for a cocktail - style reception.

This venue package, includes our tent pad area as well as access to all Woodlawn's exterior event areas such as the Fountain Garden, from 5 PM-11 PM. Bridal Suite & Groomsmen's Room are included beginning at 3PM the day of your event ( for bridal party only). Also includes wedding-focused open-house style tour inside the gorgeous Woodlawn mansion for your guests, during your cocktail hour. Tent, equipment and catering will be contracted with our exclusive caterer, Design Cuisine.

OPTION 2: RECEPTION ONLY IN THE WOODLAWN FOUNTAIN GARDEN + TENT:

Tent capacity is 250 for a table seated reception, 350 for a Cocktail - style reception.

Includes access to Woodlawn's exterior property from 5 PM- 11 PM, and Bridal Suite & Groomsmen's Room beginning at 2 PM the day of your event, for bridal party only. Also includes tours of the interior of historic Woodlawn mansion for 1 hour during your event cocktail hour. This option does allow, with added permission and fees, additional tents and areas for weddings larger than 350 guests. Please submit an inquiry for more information.

OPTION 3: THE POPE-LEIGHEY HOUSE GARDEN:

Max Guests: 80 table seated

Includes access to the Pope-Leighey House's exterior garden property from 5PM -11 PM as well as open-house style tours of the interior of the Pope-Leighey House for 1 hour, during the cocktail hour. Please submit an inquiry for how to craft your celebration at this property.

OPTION 4: By special arrangement only - THE POPE-LEIGHEY HOUSE INTERIOR:

Our Pope-Leighey House has a tiny footprint inside, and is more vulnerable to damage from events. Therefore, requests are by special arrangement only, and with limited availability each season. Please contact site director at APhillips@savingplaces.org or submit an inquiry.
