Back to School Pope-Leighey Picnic

Why Back to School, you might ask?

Loren Pope, the first owner of the Pope-Leighey House, was a journalist who was passionate about education. His book Colleges That Change Lives is enjoying its own anniversary of 20 years as one of the most provacative books for prospective college students looking to choose their school. For more than 35 years, Pope counseled students and families to help them find the right college “fit.”  Two important anniversaries in the same year!  So we are celebrating with a back-to-school family picnic on the grounds of Pope-Leighey House this August 27.  Bring a picnic and we will supply the fun, including open-house-style tours of our most favorite Frank Lloyd Wright house. We will be focused on a 'back to school' theme, including the Colleges That Change Lives mission, picnic-style. Stay tuned!  Individual Tickets, Purchase HERE: $15

Picnic Theater Company Presents "Hay Fever"

Just in time for our 150th Birthday picnic series, our favorite, THE PICNIC THEATRE COMPANY is back with a brand-new production of a Noel Coward play and for the first time ever, this is to be performed at the Pope- Leighey House location! (Rain or shine. If inclement weather prevents an outside performance, we will move to our brand new tent space!) Tickets available now, dinner options available to all ticket buyers after June 21. Fun fact: Noel Coward and Frank Lloyd Wright were related. The very first performance of this particular play was staged on June 8, in NYC. It doesn't get much better than that!

Guests may arrive as early as 5:30 to eat and secure a spot on the Pope-Leighey house lawn.

Performance at 7:00 p.m. Individual Tickets: $15.00 PURCHASE HERE
